Write about the picture Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words - 9

Expound on the image - Essay Example The hues are very entering and compelling, especially the white and the earthy colored. There isn't a very remarkable difference between the dim and light shades, the lines are obscured yet unmistakable. The watchers may have the inclination that they are watching a scene, and the general effect is strange. The effect of realistic closeness restricts the confused techniques that were applied to the formation of the work of art. Despite the fact that this is by all accounts a rushed, off the cuff work, exhaustive investigation uncovers that Vivian George idealized it in stages and picked and benefited from her materials to feature her imaginings and inconspicuous implications. As I take a gander at the artistic creation, I am some of the time attracted to the light shades on the left, yet diligently coming back to the middle, where the entire picture crumples into one inconclusive appearance. This move happens basically because of the complexity between the left and the correct side, with the left side demonstrating the couple of light contacts. The vast majority of the hues are clear or very immersed, and their diverge from each other additionally adds to the retrogressive and progress ahead of my eyes as I watch the subtleties of the canvas. In the event that the dull hues were not as soaked, more noteworthy accentuation would be on the left half of the canvas, it would hold more prominent ‘mass’, and my eyes would center at that side. Subsequently, the arrangement of the work of art would get lopsided. The work of art instigates neither satisfaction nor trouble. The hues are exceptional, and pastel shades typically produce positive emotions, yet I to a great extent felt bewildered, and maybe to some degree scattered. I would need to find out about the work of art and the craftsman so as to comprehend the picture. The hues are very quiet, and even the dim hues have delicacy in them, yet the encasing pictures show a characteristic scene. In this way, I accept this is the thing that Vivian George is attempting

Kellogg Interview with MBA Candidate Teresa J. Lo

Be passionate. Here’s a talk with Teresa J. Lo, an MBA candidate at Northwestern Kellogg who is passionate about marketing, traveling, and cooking. Thank you Teresa for sharing your thoughts and experiences with us! This interview is the latest in an Accepted.com blog series featuring interviews with current MBA students, offering readers a behind-the-scenes look at top MBA programs. We hope to offer you a candid picture of student life, and what you should consider as you prepare your MBA application. Accepted: First, can you tell us a little about yourself? Where are you from? Where did you study as an undergrad? When did you graduate? And do you hold any prior degrees? Teresa: I am originally from a suburb of Dallas, TX and studied at University of Texas at Austin for undergrad. (Hook em!) I graduated in  2006  with a triple major in Business Honors, Marketing, and Psychology. While in undergrad, I founded a chapter of a non-profit organization that sponsors Chinese orphans for necessary medical procedures (http://chinacare.org/). The chapter is still active on the UT campus and I still keep in touch with a few of the sponsored girls and they are such inspirations to me. After graduating I moved to New York City to become a buyer at Macy’s, where I was exposed to brands such as Chanel, Nike, The North Face, and Ralph Lauren. I lived in NYC for 5 years before applying to graduate school. I am an avid photographer, world traveler, and love to cook and bake. Accepted: I see on LinkedIn that youve attended three business schools Kellogg (current), Texas McCombs (BA), and Copenhagen Business School.   What would you say are the greatest differences between these schools in terms of teaching style and community?   Teresa: I did my undergrad at McCombs, studied abroad at CBS, and am currently an MBA candidate at Kellogg. All are different from each other, but I have loved all three experiences. McCombs is quite large, but I was in the Business Honors Program (BHP), which teaches MBA level courses and is significantly smaller and easier to navigate. The school is ranked at the top of undergrad business school and has really modern facilities. The teaching method is a mix of lecture, case study, and group work. Even though the program was competitive, I was surrounded by amazing people who constantly challenged me. I made lifelong friends, many of whom have started successful companies, worked internationally, and/or have graduated from top graduate business schools. Copenhagen is a small city and CBS is also very small, but it is one of the best schools in Northern Europe. They teach many classes in English and focus mostly on lecture and teamwork. The grading system was a unique 1-7 scale based on a curve, so it was extremely hard to get A’s. Danes are incredibly family-oriented people and the culture is very focused on building relationships. Even though I was only there for one semester, I had a great experience and recommend it to everyone! Kellogg has been a similarly impactful experience for me. The first word that comes to mind is â€Å"intense.† Northwestern University goes off the quarter system so each term is only 10-weeks long and we cram a lot of information into each class. I chose to come to Kellogg because of its reputation for teamwork and collaboration and it has lived up to this reputation. My classmates are incredibility smart and talented†¦I have accepted that I am just average compared to them! Despite the pressures of school and recruiting, everyone is extremely willing to help each other out both professionally and personally. The teaching style here is similar to McCombs, which is a mix of lecture, case study, and group work. This is the style that suits me and how I learn the best. Accepted: What do you plan on doing once you receive your MBA? Teresa: Luckily I am not a career-switcher. I have always had a passion for retail and marketing and want to stay in the retail industry in any area of marketing ranging from digital to brand. If there is something I have learned from the last few years, it’s that you can’t â€Å"plan† everything and sometimes have to be open to opportunities you never knew existed. If you had asked me 6 years ago, I couldn’t have foreshadowed moving to New York or working for Sephora in SF! Accepted: Can you tell us about your internship at Sephora? What role did Kellogg have in helping you secure that position? Teresa: I was an MBA digital marketing intern at Sephora, based in SF this summer. It was a phenomenal experience and I got to sample so many new products! I focused primary on social media and mobile opportunities, which is a fast-growing area of marketing. I chose to work for Sephora because of its best-in-class status in digital marketing and its open-minded culture. Even though I was â€Å"only an intern,† my ideas were always welcome and wanted. Although I did some on-campus recruiting with Kellogg, I found the Sephora opportunity off-campus. I utilized my previous network in NYC, visited companies, and talked to a lot of people. The â€Å"Kellogg† brand on my resume definitely helped open doors and give me some legitimacy with regards to my passion for marketing. Accepted: How would describe your fit with Kellogg? Teresa: I alluded to this earlier, but Kellogg is all about â€Å"fit.† The type of people who come here are not only bright, hard-working, and extremely talented, but also fun, creative, and supportive. We are unlike some other schools that focus only on leadership; Kellogg is all about teamwork and collaborating with people from diverse backgrounds. Even during the stressful recruiting season, my classmates were my biggest cheerleaders and supporters. Kellogg was the only school that I wanted to go to because I knew it was the right fit. Accepted: Can you offer some advice to our Kellogg applicants? Teresa: Be passionate. Kellogg accepts people who have a passion for something and are passionate about coming to Kellogg. A generic â€Å"this is why I am a smart and successful candidate† essay will not cut it. Show some personality, tell us why you are unique, and demonstrate what you will bring to the Kellogg community that is unlike anyone else. Comparative Public Administration - 1500 Words

What do you understand by Comparative Public Administration? Comparative Public Administration is an applied, intercultural, interdisciplinary, explanatory field of study which carries out cross-cultural investigations in order to provide solutions for management problems sooner and develop management technologies further. It is no accident that the field focuses upon growth, reform and capacity building since Comparative Public Administration is in many ways about identifying those best practices which promote the most desirable organizational structures and processes. Soaring oil prices between 2005 and the first half of 2008 threatened inflation and unemployment, as higher gasoline prices ate into consumers budgets. Imported oil accounts for about 60% of US consumption. Long-term problems include inadequate investment in economic infrastructure. What is Pendleton Act? Since the beginning of the government, people gained and lost their jobs whenever a new president took office. These jobs were political pay-offs for people who supported them. Many people did not take their jobs too seriously because they knew they would be out of their office soon. As Henry Clay put it, government officials after an election are like the inhabitants of Cairo when the plague breaks out; no one knows who is next to encounter the stroke of death. Over the years the flaws that were made and the problems that resulted became more obvious. After an election you could open a newspaper and find many advertisements, which offered government jobs that were filled before the election. Social Impact on Mobile Computing

Question: Discuss the social impact on mobile computing. Answer: Introduction: Embracing latest technology often means adopting the good and bad features. Mobile computing is a phenomenon and with increased services, applications and learning methods geared towards mobility it is here to stay. But implications cannot be ignored which can be both social, economic or cognitive including areas of learning methods, social media behavior and newer terminologies. The author critically evaluates questions and findings from the journals authored by Joanne and Michael, in a formal and non-formal environment and by Chuan-Tuan, Yu-Kang, Zhao-Hong and You. General discussion: The clarity of the statement and justifying its significance: In the article "Mobile computing devices in higher education: Student perspectives on learning with cell phones, smartphones social media", authors Joanne and Michael clearly state the current trend of mobile usage in the field of learning, especially in higher education (Fischer and Smolnik 2013). The significance is important as increasing number of young students are turning to online methods of learning (Gikas and Grant 2013). In the article The dark side of smartphone usage: Psychological traits, compulsive behavior and technostress', authors Yu-Kang, Chuan-Tuan, You and Zhao-Hong discuss the impact, outcome, research studies, methodology and limitations of individuals and groups regarding increased usage of mobile computing and constant dependency. The article clearly justifies the statements written (Lee et al. 2014). The extent to which the research covers the concerned topic: The authors only cover the impact of using mobile devices, social media websites and video sites in a formal and non-formal learning environment, detailing foster collaboration, easy interactivity between peers, teachers and combination of them. He takes a positive approach while mentioning the risks of adopting this technology (Wu 2012). The research studies undertake certain hypotheses and concepts, including the influence of locus control and social interaction anxiety need for touch, materialism influence among others. His methodology includes a study by country selection, measures taken, pre-tests and traditional research of participants and data gathering. The study concludes with some preliminary analysis, statistics and estimates, measurement and structural model. Limitations and opinion on future research are detailed at the end (Billieux 2012). The methodology followed by the research : To provide an in-depth experience of students' viewpoints of using mobile computing devices, they accepted the qualitative approach and methodology from Merriam's journal published in 1998. They studied the category of themes explained in the journal to better understand the approach through an individual's eyes on how they perceive the reality after they were interviewed to share their stories and opinions (Barry, Murphy and Drew 2015). The authors adopted a methodology as per the journal study published by authors Ahonen Moore and categorizing it into three sections country selection, measures taken and few pre-tests. They chose Taiwan because of its high smartphone penetration, which is around 51% in compared to developed countries and its increased smartphone usage. Measures were taken from various literature studies, including dimensions of control loss, abysmal of life, conflict, symptom of withdrawal and compulsion. For pre-tests, they followed the procedure as per the author Churchill. Six constructs used for 63 items and undergrad students of marketing assessed for consistency (Tsai 2015). The justification of the agreement between the research methods and the philosophical framework: The research findings were based on primary assumptions of some characteristics based strictly on the nature of mobile devices including access to The Internet, portability, and as a communication apparatus. The research cannot be concluded as exhaustive as it was based on old findings of data from three universities, which participated in the project. The collected data was used to find patterns to find connections by open coding and categorized and compared to three rounds of analysis. The patterns and relationships through simulations may not fully recreate a probable solution (Fernando, Loke and Rahayu 2013). There is a good correlation between assumptions, concepts, studies undertaken and conclusions drawn. It is because they adopted three categorized their study into three parts of the methodological study, and drawn references from many authors with published journals. Instead of raw code simulation, they took actual dimensions that are relatable and provided recommendations based on the studies undertaken which is more logical (Lee 2015). Highlighting of the biases and flaws in the research: The authors made the point that even though research and methodologies were carried out to find patterns, glaring loopholes can exist. The students participated maybe due to they believe they felt an impact by mobile devices or was just interested. Other findings are partly justified when the technology compared from that time of writing the article, like fear of using small buttons of keyboard onscreen or longer exposure to screens. No flaws found in their study due to the diverse nature of their work, but since they based their research methodology, only from one country, the study can be said to be one-sided. The study is more logical as they have considered human dimensions. The ethical study of the research: The studies carried out morally and ethically justified to a degree because the authors conducted researches replicating the actual environment, while at the same time old researches and complicated method of data patterns cannot be compared with the reality and the conclusion provided may not be justified (Whaiduzzaman 2014). The studies performed by the authors hinges towards morally and ethically correct as they have compared smartphone usage, its implications on daily life and analyzed the resultant outcome without biasing. It would have been morally incorrect if they concluded their study with the research findings alone. Instead, they recommend self-introspection, better psychological assessment, and encouraging to find the cause of stress and compulsive behavior to come at a solution (Cox, Bird and Fleck 2013). Evaluation of the data collection and analysis: On the collection of data and analysis part, the authors have been successful because they took reference from many writers, who wrote journals on related topics and referenced in the article for the same. So the findings and evaluations are conclusive even though dated when compared to immediate changes. It is because rapid technological changes in hardware and software, easy availability of software, shapes smartphone usage and usage characteristics accordingly. The data collection undertaken from their studies, by following tested methodologies and made comparison charts and appendices for easier understanding. Appropriate analysis is given based on the comparative study. Extent to which the evidence supports the research: Findings from the research are exhaustive if not conclusive because the studies are based on students from only three US universities. Results carried out from the interview are advantages of a mobile computing device in learning the field, and the frustrations associated learning from a mobile device owing to its limitations. Also, the conclusion of negative impacts is documented saying seclusion of an individual, depression, victimization, trolling and self-harm caused directly or indirectly. Research finding, along with empirical data, charts and process are well documented in appendices, references, charts, surveys, methodologies and in-text citations to avoid confusions. They carry all conclusive evidence. Conclusion: The authors approach starts with the introduction of mobile computing in the field of education, describing its usability, features replicating a formal environment but in a modern sense of freedom. Social implications of newer and older generations are different now from that of 90's or before and are both good and bad in their respective ways. He underlines some stark contrasts between the two generations without judging due to the nature of their environment and its influence on them changing from time to time. He also mentions the positive and negative influences drawn from various studies with different conclusions drawn from proven tests. The common theme being self-evaluation, and behavior study as recommendations. References: Barry, S., Murphy, K. and Drew, S., 2015. Writing an A+ Essay Essay An essay is nothing new in the writing world. Students and writers all alike have tried to prefect this since the dawn of ancient Japanese literature. Now we have what happens to be the â€Å"Holy Grail† of all the ways to write an essay. This method is said to be easy as pie! You can think of it this way your body paragraphs should be P.I.E. The acronym P.I.E. stands for point, illustrate, and explain. Each paragraph though out your essay should contain each of these factors.Point is the purpose or claim of the paragraph. Illustrate is examples, quotes, evidence, and proof that demonstrates , supports, and illustrates the point and last the writer must explain the importance of all the examples, quotes, evidence and proof to ensure the readers understand the significance of each. There is not a set amount of each needed but the point should be the smallest portion of each paragraph. Most of the paragraphs information should explain, and support the point. Now let’s take a deeper look into the factors that make up an exemplary paragraph. The â€Å"P† section of your paragraph is a point that is the claim or position of the paragraph. This should be an opinion that can be argued. The point should be in the first sentence of the paragraph and it shouldn’t be vague. There should only be one point per paragraph. All the information in the paragraph should support and tie it all into one major point. The â€Å"I† is section of the paragraph should show support to the thesis statement of the entire essay. This should be done with examples, quotes, and evidence about the point. When illustrating the thesis statement you should be highly selective when choosing your quotes, examples, and other forms of this they should only support the thesis statement. Be sure not to quote-bomb the reader. You want to be able to explain all your supporting evidence to the reader.
